Checking GitHub for postvec-v0.5.0-2. The exact artifact names are listed below in the meantime.
docker pull ghcr.io/univec-ai/postvec:0.5.0-2-pg18-local
The moving tag is ghcr.io/univec-ai/postvec:pg18-local. Pin the versioned tag in production, preferably by digest. A preview tag may not resolve until the release is published. Every PostgreSQL image tag includes the major.
PostgreSQL 18 volumes mount at /var/lib/postgresql. 16 and 17 use /var/lib/postgresql/data. Never change major by retagging an existing volume.

sudo apt install \ ./postvec-cli_0.5.0-2+deb12_amd64.deb \ ./postgresql-18-postvec_0.5.0-2+deb12_amd64.deb \ ./postvec-onnxruntime_1.22.0-2+deb12_amd64.deb \ ./postvec-model-minilm-l6-v2_2.1.0-2+deb12_all.deb \ ./postvec-extras_0.5.0-2+deb12_all.deb
Use apt / dnf so PostgreSQL, pgvector and ELF dependencies resolve. Packages copy binaries and libraries. postvec setup then configures the cluster. Checksums and Sigstore attestations: verify artifacts.
postvec-server is the remote inference node and the managed PostgreSQL worker. One package per distribution and architecture, no PostgreSQL major; the same release, the same checksums and attestations. Licensed under BUSL-1.1. The extension and CLI use the PostgreSQL License. Bundled models and third-party runtimes retain their own licenses.
postvec-server_0.5.0-2+deb12_amd64.debsudo apt install \ ./postvec-server_0.5.0-2+deb12_amd64.deb \ ./postvec-cli_0.5.0-2+deb12_amd64.deb \ ./postvec-onnxruntime_1.22.0-2+deb12_amd64.deb \ ./postvec-model-minilm-l6-v2_2.1.0-2+deb12_all.deb \ ./postvec-extras_0.5.0-2+deb12_all.deb sudo install -o root -g postvec-server -m 0644 server.crt /etc/postvec-server/server.crt sudo install -o root -g postvec-server -m 0640 server.key /etc/postvec-server/server.key sudo systemctl enable --now postvec-server
The unit reads /opt/postvec, where the runtime and model packages install. The package creates the service account and starts nothing: the two install lines put your certificate pair where the packaged configuration looks (key root:postvec-server 0640) and only then is the unit started. The CLI and the extras are Recommends of the node package; they are listed because a local-file install cannot fetch them on its own.
docker pull ghcr.io/univec-ai/postvec-server:0.5.0-2
The same packages as an image, serving the bundled model. The dashboard is on port 22222. The moving tag is ghcr.io/univec-ai/postvec-server:latest. gRPC (33333) and discovery (22222) are unauthenticated: keep them on a private network.
| Artifact | Contents |
|---|---|
postvec-cli | /usr/bin/postvec |
postgresql-NN-postvec / postgresqlNN-postvec | Extension library, control file, versioned SQL |
postvec-onnxruntime | CPU ONNX Runtime under /opt/postvec/libs; independently versioned |
postvec-model-minilm-l6-v2 | Bundled 384-d model; independently versioned (2.1.0 = registry revision 2, bundle 1) |
postvec-extras | Metapackage pinning ONNX Runtime and the bundled model. Install it with the extension and CLI. |
postvec-server | /usr/bin/postvec-server, its systemd unit and configuration; one per distribution and architecture, no PostgreSQL major |
...-pgNN-remote image | PostgreSQL + pgvector + postvec + CLI, remote mode (points at postvec-server) |
...-pgNN-local image | The above plus ONNX Runtime and MiniLM (both modes) |
postvec-server image | postvec-server, the CLI, ONNX Runtime and MiniLM, from the packages above |
The filename tag (+deb12, +ubuntu22.04, +ubuntu24.04, .el9) identifies the target OS. Pick the tag that matches the host. The postvec-server image holds the inference node: postvec-server covers what it serves and how a cluster reaches it.
postvec-server ships with every release as a package and as an image, built from the same commit as the extension.
The same binary includes managed PostgreSQL: schema install, the sync worker and the optional search(text) proxy for RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL, Azure, Supabase and Neon.
License. postvec-server is Business Source License 1.1 (BUSL-1.1, source-available; production use by an organization needs postvec pro). Terms: License. That identifier is in the release manifest's licenses block, the package copyright file and the image's org.opencontainers.image.licenses label. The extension and CLI use the PostgreSQL License in either inference mode. Bundled models and third-party runtimes retain their own licenses.
Every debug package has a postvec-server-dbgsym / -debuginfo sibling. Packages covers installation; the selector above lists the file for the chosen distribution and architecture.
